A new pre-payment system to help prevent the abuse and increase the efficiency of premium visa appointments was launched today by Immigration Minister, Mark Harper. Pre-payment The previous, free booking system had been repeatedly abused by individuals and organisations who had block booked appointments and hampered legitimate users from arranging appointments - Public Enquiry Offices (PEOs) reported that on average 20 to 30% of appointments were missed a week. Visa applicants wanting to book premium in-country appointments at a PEO, will pay the same £375 fee but now £100 will be paid in advance at the time of booking an appointment. Add one more link to the ties that bind Houston and Aberdeen, Scotland. More than 60 people at a hotel in Houston’s Uptown district were linked by satellite to a crowded hotel ballroom in Aberdeen Tuesday to discuss ways to strengthen business ties between the two energy capitals. The Aberdeen-Houston Gateway is the brainchild of Brett Jackson, managing director of Granite PR, an Aberdeen public relations firm. He began visiting Houston in 2011 after his brother and sister moved here. Speaking from Aberdeen, he said he has since spent more than 100 days in Houston. He plans to return in May, along with several hundred other Aberdeen businesspeople, drawn by Houston’s biggest convention, the Offshore Technology Conference.   READ REMAINDER OF ARTICLE

We are delighted to announce that Turner & Townsend has been voted Outstanding International Business at the British Expertise International Awards. The annual awards recognise international excellence by British companies in the professional services sector. The judges were particularly impressed by Turner & Townsend’s rapid overseas growth, and the milestone it reached in 2012 when for the first time more than half of its revenue came from outside the UK.
