An international event celebrating the business links between Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Houston will mark its landmark fifth anniversary next month by welcoming its largest ever international delegation.

The fifth annual Aberdeen-Houston Gateway has once again attracted an exciting line-up of speakers, contributors and visitors from both sides of the Atlantic including a record number of Houston business representatives who will travel to the North East for a series of meetings, presentations, networking events and tours.

Since its inception, the Aberdeen-Houston Gateway has offered participants the opportunity to explore potential opportunities and further strengthen links between the global energy hubs.  The event is created by Granite PR and managed by Business Plus Scotland and a key highlight of the busy week will be the popular flagship lunch at Macdonald Norwood Hall on Tuesday, March 21st when delegates will hear from a variety of speakers with experience in the UK and U.S. markets.

Commenting on plans for the 2017 Aberdeen-Houston Gateway creator and Granite PR founder and managing director Brett Jackson said: “Current operating conditions mean that it has never been more important to look at diversifying and adding value, and we hope that the Aberdeen-Houston Gateway will again provide an important springboard from which people can grow their own businesses.

“Aberdeen and Houston both have firm reputations as entrepreneurial cities where, for those with the right drive and focus, anything is possible.  The special relationship between our cities stands strong and makes creating or growing business easier than other more complex markets – and this is continuing to attract businesses.”

Returning delegate Jeffrey Blair of Greater Houston Partnership said: “I am pleased to once again being a part of the Aberdeen-Houston Gateway event this year together with my colleagues from the economic development community in Greater Houston. This will be my third time participating in Aberdeen and I am honoured to be a part of the fifth annual event, a milestone.

“Speaking for myself, the Gateway event allows me to connect (and re-connect) each year with important members of the business community and government officials in the region just a few weeks before OTC.”

Andrew Derry Principal of the British International School of Houston added: “Aberdeen and Houston share a unique and rich history grounded in energy and technology.  Many expat and American children make the journey between these two cities, so the relationships being built between both locations is extremely important to our school community, to our parents, and most importantly, to our students.

“As a leader in STEAM education, the British International School of Houston is uniquely positioned to work alongside industry leaders in oil, gas and academia to prepare students for future careers in STEAM-related professions. But more importantly, developing and sustaining these relationships allows us to help mitigate the difficult challenges families face when moving, relocating and settling within the US and abroad.”
