Hello ,

Welcome to the BABC - Houston newsletter of upcoming events, articles, jobs more from our membership.

BABC was pleased to welcome over 250 guests for the 4th Annual BABC International Business Awards Luncheon last week at the Omni Houston Hotel. A special surprise award was given to Susan and Kevin Howard in appreciation of their tireless work raising funds for the British American Foundation of Texas which BABC supports. It's not an easy task surprising the Howards, but I think we succeeded this time!

Governor David Dewhurt, left; Bill Schneider, rightWe were very honored to have Lt. Governor David Dewhurst in attendance to give our opening remarks which included, "“Welcome to Texas! We are interested in you. We want you. The red carpet is out.”  BABC board member Michellle Sandlin wrote a great article about the event for the Houston Chronicle. I would encourage you to read it for more details of Mr. Dewhurst's comments, etc. Click here.

Bill Schneider, keynote speaker for the event, spoke on the government shutdown's affects on business which led to some lively discussion during Q&A, with even the Lt. Governor participating.

The true purpose of the event was to announce the winners in our annual BABC International Business Awards programme. The awards honor British and American companies who are excelling in trade and investment between the US and the UK based on percentage of revenue growth, job creation, annual capital expenditure and innovation in their products and systems.
