Hello ,

Welcome to the BABC - Houston newsletter of upcoming events, articles, jobs and more from our membership.

Global Entry is a program that allows expedited immigration and customs clearance of pre-approved, low-risk travelers applying for admission to the United States.   British citizens who travel to the U.S. frequently for meetings or assignments could benefit from this program by saving time, greatly facilitating business travel.  British participation in this program is delayed, however, while awaiting final steps required of the British government.

The Global Entry program currently allows enrollment by U.S. citizens, and certain citizens of other countries.  Full program details can be found at www.globalentry.gov. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reports they are ready to allow British citizens to participate in Global Entry. In order to take that step, however, certain actions are still required from the British Government.  Progress in activating this program for British citizens appears to be delayed by British security background check requirements. It further appears that this delay is occasioned by the need to develop procedures and protocols for sharing security data by the British Government.

We are providing a template letter designed to encourage the appropriate British authorities to focus on this issue in order to allow British citizens to begin enjoying the benefits of expedited inspection when applying for admission to the United StatesYou can help make Global Entry available to British citizens. To do so, please download and complete this letter where indicated and mail it to Lord Livingston, Department of Business Innovation and Skills at the indicated address.  Also mail a copy of the letter to Andrew Millar HM Consul-General Houston and Danny Lopez, HM Consul-General New York and Director General Trade & Investment USA. Alternatively, you can email the attached letter to mpst.livingston@bis.gsi.gov.uk with copies to andrew.millar@fco.gov.uk and danny.lopez@fco.gov.uk

If you have any questions concerning the Global Entry program, please refer to the CBP website at www.globalentry.gov. Questions concerning this BABC initiative can be directed to Becci Himes at BABC Houston.

Sincerely.

Derek Blackwood, BACB President
