TopGolf is an authentic golf experience that combines competition with entertainment. It's an entertainment facility unlike any other, and it's helping grow the game of golf.  Players hit golf balls containing computer microchips that track each shot’s accuracy and distance while also awarding points for hitting targets on the outfield.

Opened in December 2012, TopGolf Houston is a 65,000-square-foot facility that features approximately 3,000 square feet of event space, 102 climate-controlled hitting bays, 235 high-definition TVs, a 215-yard outfield, an impressive food and beverage menu, and a rooftop terrace.

The unique thing about the TopGolf concept is that it appeals to all ages and skill levels, and it’s an activity that can be enjoyed year-round. TopGolf has nine locations worldwide, serving more than 1.5 million guests annually.

Teeing up point-scoring golf fun for more than 250,000 guests in its first six months of operation, TopGolf Houston has quickly established itself as one of Houston’s most beloved recreational activities. It has been recognized as one of the city’s most influential real estate projects when it was awarded the Houston Business Journal’s 2013 Landmark Award for the hospitality/entertainment category. As of today, TopGolf ranks #22 of 155 attractions in Houston on the popular travel website TripAdvisor. On July 8, 2013, TopGolf confirmed it will open a second Houston-area location to serve residents in north Houston and The Woodlands in Spring, TX. Also included in TopGolf’s 2014 development plans: Scottsdale, AZ and Alpharetta, GA.   

Additionally since opening (and also prior to opening) TopGolf Houston has received accolades from such media outlets as Golf Channel, the Houston Chronicle, the Houston Business Journal, Houstonia magazine, CultureMap Houston, and more. 

The story of TopGolf began on a driving range, where two brothers were practicing their swings in London. The year was 2000. As boredom took hold, the brothers began brainstorming ways they could liven up their range experience and improve their skills at the same time. Why wasn’t there a place where they could work on their game and also have the best time of their lives? Why couldn’t they know exactly where their ball had landed? The idea for TopGolf was born.

Since its creation in 2000, one of the greatest challenges TopGolf has faced is regarding awareness. The concepts of both the TopGolf games and the facility itself are so unique that they can be difficult to convey via traditional advertising methods. TopGolf’s marketing model is unique in that it has leveraged the power of word of mouth, primarily through social media, guerilla marketing, digital marketing and community outreach. This approach is also aligned with the company’s “social” brand value.

Another challenge the company overcame was its need to maintain a wide appeal. Indeed, TopGolf had to take extra care not to be pigeonholed as simply another driving range, without neglecting its avid golfer fan base. From its events, leagues and tournaments to its menu and ambiance, TopGolf has successfully created a flat-out fun entertainment venue that can be enjoyed by anyone and everyone. Today, millions of people – from juniors to seniors – have played TopGolf, and more than half of all guests describe themselves as “non-golfers.”
