The total number of people traveling offshore on the UK Continental Shelf in 2013 increased by 8.6 percent compared to 2012, according to statistics released Tuesday by Oil & Gas UK.

The trade organization said that there was a 14.7-percent increase in workers aged between 24 and 29 going offshore. This was the largest increase of any age grouping of workers. There was also a slight drop in the average age of workers traveling offshore. -
