British Ambassador to the United States Sir Nigel Sheinwald will visit Texas the week of 8 February. His second trip to the state takes him to the capital, Austin, and one of America's fastest growing cities in terms of population and employment, San Antonio.
In Austin the Ambassador will meet state and city officials, including the Governor and Lt. Governor of Texas, Mayor Leffingwell of Austin, and political experts and academics, to get a clear view of where Texas is headed in the coming elections and how it is addressing economic recovery.
At the LBJ Library’s Robert S. Strauss Centre for International Security and Law the Ambassador will deliver a major policy speech on Afghanistan, outlining the UK's commitment and the political moves that the Afghan Government must make to stabilise the country in the long term.
