A British company has developed technology to save American footballers from dying of heat stroke.
Psion has helped devise the Hothead helmet, which contains a heat sensor to relay the player's body temperatures to coaches on the touchline.
When a player's body temperature reaches a dangerous level an alert is sent through a radio link to warn coaches he needs to be brought off to cool down.
Each year around 10,000 high school athletes in the US suffer serious heat-related illnesses, the majority through gruelling August pre-season training in high temperatures wearing helmets and padding.
