Jan-Ake Gustafson joined the faculty of the University of Houston in 2009 after an illustrious career at the Karoliniska Institutet in Stockholm, one of the world’s leading Medical Research Institutions. At the Karolinska Institutet he held several prestigious positions including Chairman of the Nobel Assembly and received numerous international awards and honors including the Lorenzini Gold Medal, Member of the US National Academy of Science and the award of Merit from the Princess Takamatsu Cancer Research fund.  Dr. Gustafsson is also the founder of KaroBio AB, a very successful Biotech Company.  He will discuss his research on nuclear receptors and its medical implications.
