English actor Ian Frost performs Byron''s "Beppo, A Venetian Love Story," at the March 16 meeting of the English-Speaking Union at the Briar Club, 2603 Timmons.

The performance celebrates Byron''s poem, set in Venice in the early 1800s, describing love, scandal and the Carnival at its height. The poem, adapted by playwright Bill Studdiford, maintains the wit, tenderness and worldly-wise comedy of its author.

Frost''s one-man shows have been performed in New York City, throughout the United States, at the Edinburgh and Piccolo Spoleto festivals and on tours of major cities in more than 11 countries.

Trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and the Royal Court Actors Studio, he has appeared with leading repertory theaters in England and on TV.

His repertoire includes performances as Byron, Keats and Shelley, the three romantics.

The English-Speaking Union of the United States is a nonprofit, nonpolitical, educational organization whose mission is to promote scholarship and the advancement of knowledge through the effective use of English in an expanding global community.
