Houston Cinema Arts Festival- Philomena

PHILOMENA
synopsis: Based on the 2009 investigative book by BBC correspondent Martin Sixsmith, The Lost Child of Philomena Lee, Philomena details the efforts of a mother who conceived a child out of wedlock and gave him away for adoption in the United States. Philomena’s Irish-Catholic community didn’t take kindly to her situation, so, following church doctrine, she was forced to sign a contract that wouldn’t allow for any sort of inquiry into her son’s whereabouts.
screening: Sunday, Nov 10 7:00 PM Sundance Cinemas
