Alfred P Sloan Awards for Excellence in Workplace Flexibility


The Mayor’s Flexible Workplace Initiative is pleased to announce Houston has 14 semifinalists for the 2007 Alfred P. Sloan Award for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility

Join us as we celebrate Houston’s commitment to workplace flexibility at the Alfred P. Sloan Awards Luncheon October 30, 2007.

The semifinalists were selected using flexibility and workplace effectiveness criteria based on the Families and Work Institute’s 2005 National Study of Employers. Winners must rank in the top 20 percent of employers nationally, and will go on to compete against the other regional winners from 24 communities across the United States.

We will recognize our winners at a luncheon on Tuesday, October 30 at 11:30 am, at the Double Tree Hotel, 600 Dallas.

In addition, we will recognize all employers participating in another successful year of the Flex in the City .

The initiative was started by Mayor White to encourage employers’ adoption of a new flexible work option that will eliminate traffic during at least one peak commute time, for a two week trial period.
